Whatever problems and difficulties you are experiencing, you don't have to be alone. Bring all of who you are and together we can sit and explore your concerns at your own pace. I can help you explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours so that you can develop a better understanding of yourself and others. We can begin to work out how your past experiences of life may have created ways of thinking, beliefs or patterns of relating which are unhelpful for you now.
Making sense of your problems can enable you to make changes, move forward and live your life more authentically.
I know how challenging life can be and I also know how positively life changing counselling can be. I have experienced the benefits of being able to talk about my problems with a professional counsellor who I trust and has a genuine interest in me.
Before deciding to train in counselling, I worked as a Holistic Complimentary Therapist for more than 20 years supporting people affected by cancer and their families. As a Counsellor, I integrate my years of experience as a Holistic Therapist and my own personal life experience into my counselling work. I find that this can be supportive for those living with depression, anxiety, overwhelming feelings, low self-esteem and those living with a medical diagnosis or condition.
I am an Integrative Counsellor and have been told by clients that they experience me as calm and easy to talk to. My Integrative training enables me to draw on a range of modalities. The modalities I use are: Internal Family Systems, Gestalt, Psychodynamic, Transactional Analysis, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness, Self-Compassion, Creative interventions and Imagery.
I have a genuine interest, care and concern for people valuing every person as unique and individual. I believe that we all have the capacity for change and growth given the right conditions.
I offer a supportive counselling relationship of warmth, compassion, acceptance and inclusion of whatever you bring.
For some, the presence of animals can be calming, helping them to relax and feel at ease. My Golden Retriever, Hogan is very happy to accompany us in the counselling session for those clients who would like this. He is a placid and friendly boy and passed his assessment in 2019 as a Pets as Therapy dog.
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy which means that I am committed to working in accordance with their Ethical Framework and continued professional development.
I am also a member of the Counselling Directory
Finding a counsellor with whom you feel comfortable and safe with to talk about what you are going through can be overwhelming. I offer a free half hour session online or telephone to enable us to find out more about each other and whether I am the right counsellor to help you.
If we feel that we can work together, we can then work out a mutually suitable time and day that sessions can begin.
I also offer online counselling sessions via Zoom.
Sessions last for 60 minutes. They are usually weekly and held on the same day and time.
Having weekly sessions are preferable as this allows more continuity and progress but fortnightly sessions can be arranged if this is something that is preferable.
This is different for everyone and will be agreed with you. There is no limit on the number of sessions.
We will regularly review and check in together as how the sessions are progressing. There is no commitment from you to attend a number of sessions.
